Underfloor Heating – A Brief History

Whereas many people are under the impression that underfloor heating is a modern idea it has actually been around for more than 2000 years.

Installation

The installation process is very simple.

We install a special insulation board on top of the existing flooring (concrete or wood) using a flexible adhesive. The heating system, either loose wire, heating mat or foil heating layer is then placed on top of the insulation board. Finally the new floor covering (wood, laminate, stone, ceramic or porcelain tiles) is fixed on top of the heating system.

The underfloor heating system is then wired up to a manual or programmable thermostat.
